As I was checking the live version of this website, I was happy to see Google ads showing up in the space I designated for it. I was unhappy to see the ad itself. It was an ad for a video game, and the image portrayed a slightly raunchy joke. It was out of the norm for me, and I was alarmed to see it on my own website.
Google Ads have a couple of options on their top right corner. One is a triangle that says, “About this ad.” I clicked on it. A Google page came up:

The first thing it said is Ad Personalization is off. Suddenly, I wanted to be ad tracked. I don’t want to see ads from popular society. Frankly, they are disturbing to me.
