As Science Fair Coordinator for four years and three schools, I developed a system for web-based science fair instruction and presentation. This system is great for groups such as home-school co-ops, small private schools, and public school classes who otherwise would not participate in science fair.
Web-based science fair has several major benefits:
- Allows students to see and encourage each other’s progress.
- Allows parents and teachers to see students’ work.
- Allows grading in stages to ensure maximum comprehension and achievement for student.
- Eliminates the expense of backboard and printing materials.
- Allows students to focus on their experiment without the extra burden of printing, assembling, and transporting their presentation.
- Gives students first-hand experience with simple web publishing.
Includes:
- Provide materials and instruction for the Scientific Method.
- Provide a web portal for students to showcase their investigations.
- Administer standard science fair registration forms for safety compliance.
- Grade projects in key stages.
- Recruit qualified judges.
- Conduct awards ceremony via Zoom.
- Provide real-time access and all materials to stake-holders.
